What is a Periodontist?
Choosing a periodontist is important when dealing with issues related to the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. A periodontist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease, as well as the placement of dental implants. Due to their advanced training, Periodontists often manage more severe or complex cases , especially when it has progressed to a point where bone loss and tooth loss are concerns. Their expertise is critical in restoring and maintaining the health and function of both the gums and the underlying bone structure.
